Adding keto fat burning fudge to a keto diet is the perfect way to sneak more healthy fats into your keto plan. This easy keto dessert recipe also helps chocolate lovers satisfy your sweet tooth.

Keep reading to learn how to make this simple homemade fudge. You’ll also learn why eating enough fat is important on a keto diet, which gives you the perfect excuse to eat more homemade sugar-free fudge on a low carb diet.
Healthy Fats are Important For Weight Loss on Keto
A common problem women run into on a high fat diet is many don’t eat enough healthy fats. Contrary to popular opinion, this doesn’t work since fat is your primary energy source on keto.
You may have heard the many keto experts who repeat, “Burn the fat from your thighs instead of adding fat to you diet.” While this theory does have a time and place in a keto diet, the beginning of a keto diet is neither the time, nor the place. Not if you want to ever get into ketosis, at least.
Under Eating is a Recipe for Weight Loss Disaster
Many women find keto after struggling with yo-yo weight loss plans for years, if not decades. When you follow low calorie plans for so long, your body gets stuck in starvation mode. This leads to a body that holds onto stored fat for dear life, unless you provide enough nutrients for your body to feel safe enough to let go of stored body fat.
When it comes to a keto diet, fat is your main source of nutrients. When you listen to the advice of these well-meaning keto experts, you may never eat enough fat for your over stressed body to feel safe. This means you could never reach a state of ketosis, no matter how low your calories go.
Keto and Weight Watchers Don’t Mix
Far too many women have difficulty losing weight after destroying their metabolism with low calorie diets. Do me a favor – quit combining keto and Weight Watchers.
A keto diet works because all of the healthy fats are necessary to heal your hormones. Believe me, your hormones need healing after years of destroying them due to overly restricted nutrients from low calorie plans.
Eat the fat! Fat is your friend on a keto diet, I promise. In fact, this is one of the biggest mistakes our Keto Decoded Members make prior to learning the right way to follow a keto diet.
Many women come to the membership because they get stuck after initially losing some weight with keto. While cutting carbs was enough for some to get results at the beginning, eventually these women hit a weight loss stall. More often than not, this is because too many women don’t eat enough food.
Once you put in the time to become fat adapted, then you can experiment with lowering fat to see if your body thrives while eating less fat. But at the beginning of keto – you probably need more fat.
That’s the reason this easy keto chocolate fudge recipe is the perfect addition to a ketogenic diet. Simple keto recipes like this ensure you eat enough of the right fats, like almond butter or natural peanut butter.
Use High Quality Ingredients for Keto Fudge
While many keto fudge recipes use cocoa mixed with a sweetener, I prefer to melt high quality dark chocolate bars like Theo’s or Lidnt. Even though these bars have small amounts of sugar, dark chocolate bars are better than sugar free dark chocolate chips. Most “keto friendly chocolate” is made with sugar alcohols, which is problematic for many.
Eating too many sugar alcohols on a keto diet can be a one way ticket to a big fat weight loss stall. It can also lead to major digestive distress. We’ll talk more about that in a minute.
While keto friendly sweeteners are a common ingredient in keto chocolate peanut butter fudge recipes, this low carb version of fudge is made with simple ingredients that your body understands how to process. Trust me, your body prefers the real thing when it comes to what you eat vs. chemicals made in a lab.
Your body understands how to digest real food. Chemicals – not so much. With that said, the saying you are what you eat isn’t entirely true. You are what you can digest is more fitting – especially when it comes to a keto diet!
Proper Digestion Is Important on Keto
Speaking of digestion, this tops the list of my keto tips and tricks that work for lasting weight loss. I attempted low-carb diets for decades. They never stuck until I took time to learn how my body works. Even though I never knew I had problems digesting the healthy fats and proteins a keto diet requires, turns out I was wrong!
All of the heartburn, bloating, anxiety, depression, cystic acne, gas, headaches, and countless other symptoms I experienced for decades were mostly due to not digesting my food properly. Oh, and let’s not forget non-stop yo-yoing weight, because that’s a result of poor digestion too.
Want to know what else can lead to major digestive issues while trying to switch to a keto lifestyle? Oh right – years of following low calorie mainstream diets. Yet another reason to avoid those experts who insist you must keep calories very low for a keto diet to work.
If you’re unsure if your body has the ability to process high-fat foods like fat burning fudge made with nut butters on a ketogenic diet, be sure to take the free Keto Digestion Course. After all, low-carb fudge tastes so much better when you’re not running immediately to the toilet after you enjoy your delicious pieces of fudge π
How to Make this Easy 3 Ingredient Keto Fudge Recipe
First, gather your ingredients.
The 3 ingredients this recipe calls for include almond butter, dark chocolate, and vanilla extract. If you prefer a 4 ingredient fudge, chop 1/4 cup of walnuts and set aside.
If you’d rather make an easy keto peanut butter fudge instead, swap almond butter for a high quality peanut butter. It’s up to you if you prefer crunchy peanut butter or a smooth peanut butter since either works in this recipe.
Next, melt your chosen nut butter and dark chocolate together in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
Stir with a whisk while the ingredients melt together. Stay close to keep an eye on the dark chocolate as it melts so it doesn’t burn. Nothing spoils healthy almond butter fudge more than burnt chocolate.
Once the chocolate and almond butter melt together, set aside to cool for a few minutes. Then stir in the vanilla extract and combine well with a whisk.
Pour the mixture into a parchment paper small loaf pan. (Lining your pan first makes for really easy clean up).
Then allow the keto fudge to set in the freezer for 30-40 minutes. If you prefer to allow it to harden in the fridge this takes closer to 2-3 hours to set.
If you decide to turn this into a 4 ingredient keto fudge by adding chopped nuts, allow the keto chocolate fudge to set at least halfway prior to sprinkling the nuts on top of your keto dessert recipe.
Dark Chocolate Keto Fudge Swaps
Unlike traditional fudge, the best part about keto fudge recipes is they are made from healthy fats. My favorite healthy fats on a keto diet include coconut oil, butter, heavy cream, and almond butter.
While I prefer almond butter in sweet keto recipes since this nut butter provides a rich flavor, don’t feel limited. You can use a different nut butter for this creamy fudge recipe like peanut butter to make a keto-friendly peanut butter fudge.
Also, you can use a smooth nut butter, but keep in mind that a crunchy almond butter provides a nice texture to this sugar free fudge recipe.
Either way, this decadent treat has a rich chocolate flavor, without added sugar. This high fat, low carb combo can help keep you in ketosis (or help you get there if you haven’t quite made it to the keto promised land). It’s an easy peasy recipe, which makes it a great way to sneak more healthy fats into your keto meal plan.
Keep Keto Fudge to a Serving Size
After the keto fudge is hard, cut it into squares. Store the low carb fudge in an airtight container in the fridge. Keeping keto fudge at room temperature for too long will result in melted fudge quickly.
You’ll definitely want to cut this up rather than just eating directly from the pan. Even though I just finished telling you how important healthy fats are on a keto diet, that doesn’t mean you have free range to eat the entire pan. A small piece is enough to help curb cravings, while also getting an extra dose of healthy fat.
Something else to keep in mind is while this sweet keto treat contains healthy fats, it also has carbs. When you overeat too much fat with too many carbs, that’s when weight gain on a keto diet can creep up.
Low Carb Fudge Wrap Up
This simple keto fat burning fudge recipe is a delicious way to have your healthy fats and eat them too! Whip up this easy recipe anytime you need to sneak more healthy fats into your keto plan.
Before you rush off to make this delicious keto fudge recipe, here are a few helpful tips:
- Try adding a little sea salt into the recipe for a different, yet delicious flavor.
- Always use parchment paper to make cleanup a breeze.
- You can turn this recipe into keto fat bombs by using a mini muffin pan with mini muffin tins. Scoop 1 tablespoon of the chocolate mixture into each tin.
- Many keto fudge recipes call for a double boiler, however melting the ingredients over medium to low heat stove top works just as well. Just keep an eye on it so the chocolate doesn’t burn.
- Try making a half batch the first time you make any fat bomb recipe to make sure you enjoy the recipe. If you love it, next time you can double the recipe and store extra fudge in the freezer for later.
- While you can use cocoa powder in place of dark chocolate, you’ll likely need to add a sweetener to the recipe.
