Let’s chat a little about this homemade fudge. My favorite thing about this easy keto fat bomb recipe is there are only three main ingredients – dark chocolate, almond butter and vanilla extract. That never means you’re limited to only three ingredients. I love to top low carb fudge with chopped walnuts or even chopped pecans.

How Dark Chocolate Keto Fudge Can Help You Stick to Keto
Unlike traditional fudge, the best part about keto fudge recipes is they are made from healthy fats. My favorite healthy fats on a keto diet include coconut oil, butter, heavy cream, almond butter or even a different nut butter.
I prefer almond butter in sweet keto recipes since it provides a rich flavor. Don’t feel limited – this creamy fudge can easily be made into a keto-friendly peanut butter fudge too. Also, don’t feel like you need to stick to a smooth nut butter. A crunchy almond butter can provide a nice texture to this sugar free fudge recipe
This decadent treat has a rich chocolate flavor without added sugar that will keep you out of ketosis. It’s an easy peasy recipe, which makes it a great way to sneak more healthy fats into your keto meal plan.

Healthy Fats are Important to Lose Weight with Keto
Another common problem women run into on a high fat diet is not getting enough healthy fats. Contrary to popular opinion in many keto circles, this often doesn’t work out well since fat is now your primary energy source.
There are many keto experts who repeat, “Burn the fat from your thighs instead of adding fat to you diet.” While this theory does have a time and place in a keto diet, the beginning of a keto diet is neither the time nor the place.
Many women find a keto diet after struggling with yo yo weight loss plans for years, if not decades. When you follow these low calorie plans for so long, your body gets stuck in starvation mode. Your body will hold onto to stored fat for dear life if you don’t provide it enough nutrients to feel safe enough to let go of stored body fat.
When it comes to a keto diet, fat is now your main source of nutrients. When you listen to the advice of these well-meaning keto experts, you may never have enough fat coming in for your over stressed body to feel safe. This means you may never reach a state of ketosis, no matter how low you drop calories.
Far too many of us have difficulty losing weight after destroying our metabolisms with low calorie diets. Please do me a favor and quit trying to combine keto and Weight Watchers.
A keto diet works because all of the healthy fats you eat are necessary to heal your hormones after years of destroying them without enough nutrients. Eat the fat – it’s your friend on a keto diet, I promise. In fact, this is one of the biggest mistakes our Keto Challengers make prior to jumping into the quarterly Keto Challenge.
Many women come to the challenge because they get stuck after losing weight for a little while with keto. While cutting carbs was enough for them to see results at the beginning of their keto diet plan, eventually many women hit a weight loss stall. More often than not, this is because women aren’t eating enough food.
Perhaps once you take time to become fat adapted, then you can experiment to see if you can thrive on keto while eating less healthy fats. This is a great time to add in an easy intermittent fasting routine to ramp up fat loss results. However, if you try to rush the fasting part and never take time to feast on delicious fats, then you’re really only back to following a typical calories in vs. calories out starvation diet.
That’s part of the reason this easy keto chocolate fudge recipe is the perfect addition to a ketogenic diet. Simple keto recipes like this ensure you get enough of the right fats, like almond butter or natural peanut butter.
Use High Quality Ingredients for Keto Fudge
I prefer to melt down high quality dark chocolate bars like Theo’s or Lidnt. Even though these bars have small amounts of sugar, I always prefer this to using sugar free dark chocolate chips or other keto friendly chocolate made with sugar alcohols.
While sweeteners are a common ingredient in keto chocolate peanut butter fudge recipes, I make my low carb version of fudge with simple ingredients our bodies understand how to process. Your body will always prefer the real thing when it comes to what you eat.
The saying you are what you eat isn’t entirely true. You are what you can digest is really more fitting – especially when it comes to a keto diet!
Digestion Is Also Important on Keto
Speaking of digestion, this tops the list of my keto tips and tricks that work for lasting weight loss. I tried low-carb diets for decades, and they never stuck until I took time to learn how my body works. Even though I never knew I had problems digesting the healthy fats and proteins a keto diet requires, turns out I was so wrong!
All of the heartburn, bloating, anxiety, depression, cystic acne, gas, headaches and countless other symptoms I experienced for decades were mostly due to not digesting the food I ate properly. Oh, and let’s not forget non-stop yo-yoing weight, because that’s an effect of poor digestion as well.
Want to know what else can lead to major digestive issues while trying to switch to a keto lifestyle? Oh right – years of following low calorie mainstream diets. Yet another reason to avoid those experts who insist you must keep calories very low for a keto diet to work.
If you’re unsure if your body has the ability to process high-fat foods like nut butters on a ketogenic diet, be sure to take the free keto digestion course. After all, low-carb fudge tastes so much better when you’re not running immediately to the toilet after you enjoy your delicious pieces of fudge 😉
How to Make this Easy 3 Ingredient Keto Fudge Recipe
First gather your ingredients. The only ingredients absolutely necessary for this recipe are almond butter, dark chocolate, and vanilla extract. Of course if you prefer to make a 4 ingredient fudge, feel free to chop up your favorite nuts, like walnuts or pecans, and set aside.
If you prefer an easy keto peanut butter fudge, you can swap out a high quality peanut butter instead. It’s up to you if you prefer crunchy peanut butter or a smooth peanut butter if you make this swap. Either work well in this recipe.
Next, melt your chosen nut butter and dark chocolate together in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Stir with a whisk while the ingredients melt together. Stay close to keep an eye on the dark chocolate as it melts so it doesn’t burn. Nothing spoils healthy almond butter fudge more than burnt chocolate.
Once the chocolate and almond butter melt together, set aside to cool for a few minutes. Then stir in the vanilla extract and combine well.
Pour the mixture onto a parchment paper lined loaf pan. Then allow the keto fudge to set in the freezer for 30-40 minutes. If you prefer to allow it to set in the fridge, that’s OK too – it will just take closer to 2-3 hours to set.
If you decide to turn this into a 4 ingredient keto fudge by adding chopped nuts, allow the keto chocolate fudge to set at least halfway before sprinkling the nuts on top of your keto dessert recipe.
Keep Keto Fudge to a Serving Size
After the keto fudge is hard, cut it into squares and be sure to store in an airtight container in the fridge. You definitely want to cut this up rather than just eating directly from the pan. Even though I just finished telling you how important enough healthy fats are for a keto diet, that doesn’t mean you have free range to eat the entire pan.
Remember, while this sweet keto treat does have amazing healthy fats, it also has carbs. When you over do too much fat with too many carbs, that’s when weight gain on a keto diet creeps up. Keep scrolling for the complete recipe card and nutritional information.

Before you rush off to make this delicious keto fudge recipe, here are a few helpful tips:
- Try adding a little sea salt into the recipe for a different, yet delicious flavor
- Always use parchment paper to make clean up a breeze
- Many keto fudge recipes call for a double boiler. I’ve always found melting the ingredients over medium to low heat stovetop works just fine. Just keep an eye on it so the chocolate doesn’t burn.
- Always make a small batch the first time you make any fat bomb recipe to make sure you like how it tastes.
- You can use cocoa powder in place of dark chocolate, but then you’ll likely have to add a sweetener
Oh right – that’s one last thing I forgot to mention. I no longer use any artificial sweeteners in my keto dessert recipes. It’s kind of a long story, but even after losing more than 100 pounds while using keto-friendly sweeteners, I found they led to sugar cravings on a keto diet. I also struggled a bit to keep the weight I lost off when I included low carb sweeteners.
Since this isn’t always the case for everyone, I’m not telling you that you should never add keto sweeteners to your fat bombs or keto dessert recipes. After making the batter for this easy keto fudge, do a little taste test. If it’s not sweet enough for you, feel free to add your favorite keto friendly sweetener.
