Did you know including coconut oil on a ketogenic diet can help you burn more body fat? It’s true. I’m a huge fan of adding coconut oil to your keto diet whenever you can.
When it comes to healthy fats, coconut oil is my favorite. Before starting a low carb lifestyle, I didn’t know about this keto superfood. Once I added more coconut oil into low carb recipes, the weight I struggled with for decades melted away. Not only that – my health improved too.
Don’t get me wrong – savory fat bombs have their place. Still, when it comes to the best way to add more healthy fats into a keto diet, coconut oil is the clear winner.
An easy way to add more coconut oil into your keto meal plan is with orange chocolate fat bombs. These 3 ingredient fat bombs coconut oil based sweet treat can help you reach your goals faster, while also crushing sweet cravings.

Orange Chocolate Fat Bomb Ingredients
If you have a sweet tooth, keto fat bombs are a great way to curb it. Not only will this keto snack crush through your cravings, but it can also help with weight loss. The best part – this healthy snack only requires 3 simple ingredients: coconut oil, dark chocolate, and orange extract.
While the flavor combo may sound strange, I assure you it’s delicious. This easy fat bomb recipe reminds me of orange Tootsie Pops. While I use various extracts to come up with different flavors for keto fat bomb recipes, orange extract is one of my favorites.
A Word About Keto-Friendly Sweeteners
Even though many keto recipes call for cocoa powder for a fat bombs recipe, I prefer to melt down a high quality dark chocolate. The reason for this is I no longer use keto-friendly sweeteners in my easy keto recipes.
While I did lose 100 pounds keeping natural sweetener in fat bombs, I struggled to keep the weight off. Plus, my sugar cravings went through the roof.
A few years back I tested out removing all excess sweeteners from my keto lifestyle. I liked the results so much that this change stuck around on my low-carb diet plan. So instead of the main ingredients of my fat bomb recipes including cocoa powder plus liquid sweeteners like Stevia, I melt down dark chocolate instead.
Some experts in the Ketosphere tell you to avoid dark chocolate since it contains small amounts of sugar. My philosophy is your body understands how to digest real sugar. Keto sweeteners that are processed in a science lab – not so much.
One of the best things about a keto diet is you can customize any recipe to fit your preference. If you still love using low carb sweetener in your plan, get this free Keto Sweetener Guide. You’ll learn the best choices when it comes to keto-friendly sweeteners, as well as how to convert them for various recipes.
How to Make Orange Chocolate Keto Fat Bombs
This recipe makes getting good fats into your keto plan really simple.
To make these sweet treats, start by melting the dark chocolate and coconut oil in a saucepan over low – medium heat. Don’t turn the heat too high since the dark chocolate can burn.
Stir the healthy fats together with a whisk as they melt. Once the chocolate mixture is fully melted, remove from heat. Allow the mixture to cool for a few minutes.
You don’t have to wait for it to come to room temperature, but you want to leave just enough time so the extract doesn’t sizzle when you mix it in. This can also burn the chocolate.
Once the chocolate cools, mix in the orange extract. Stir with a whisk to combine well.
Then add the melted chocolate mixture into a mini muffin tray in 1 tablespoon increments. Place in the freezer until the fat bombs are firm. This should take around 20 – 30 minutes.
If you don’t have a mini muffin tray, you can also use a silicone mold, or even an ice cube tray.
Once frozen, remove the muffin trays from the freezer. Use a butter knife to easily pop the fat bombs out of the tray. If they don’t pop right out, then you may need to add them back into the freezer for a few more minutes.
Store the fat bombs in the fridge or freezer in an airtight container. I typically store these in the freezer in a Ziploc bag.
The Orange Chocolate Coconut Oil Keto Fat Bomb Wrap Up
Delicious fat bombs are practically required on a high fat diet so you get the results you crave. Even though you’ve been taught to focus on calories in vs. calories out, if your fat intake isn’t high enough on keto – your body may not feel safe enough to let go of stored fat.
I always make a big batch of coconut oil based fat bombs since they help my body stay in fat burning mode. While everyone else is busy counting net carbs, I’m busy counting healthy fat to make sure I eat enough of it to get into ketosis.
While it’s true you can overdo a good thing and eat too much fat, it’s equally true that you can also starve your body of the nutrients it desperately needs. Counting total carbs on a keto meal plan is a great start – but eating enough healthy fats is important too.

3 ingredient keto fudge is another favorite. You can choose natural peanut butter or almond butter for the perfect keto treat.
