How to Make Keto Sausage Crust Pizza
First thing – preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. You want that oven toasty once the crust is ready to go.
When pulling out the baking sheet, skip parchment paper since this keto crustless pizza recipe doesn’t stick. Flatten the sausage crust on the baking sheet with your hands. Have a few paper towels handy since this part gets messy.
If you prefer to turn your pizza into a keto pizza casserole recipe, crumble up the sausage instead of flattening it onto a baking sheet. Also, don’t use a baking sheet. Follow the rest of the instructions in this recipe, but add everything to a glass casserole dish instead.
Whether you choose flat pizza or casserole, sprinkle garlic powder and Italian seasoning onto the crust. Then place it into the preheated oven. Allow it to bake for 20 minutes. Watch for the sausage crust to turn a gray color, but not quite fully brown.
Toppings for a Keto Sausage Crust Pizza
While waiting for the crust to bake, mix the spices together for the pizza sauce. I use a low carb marinara sauce with added spices like oregano, garlic, and Italian seasoning. Add any other spices you love that make great pizza flavors. Other options include fresh basil, a splash of olive oil, crushed red pepper, or any of your own faves.
Once the meat crust pizza is partially cooked, remove it from the oven. Drain any excess grease from the pan. Layer on the sugar free pizza sauce you mixed up. Sprinkle on additional toppings like chopped bell pepper, onions, or even pepperoni if you want to add more meat.
Now that you layered on the pizza sauce and topped your pizza with your favorite pizza toppings, add shredded cheese on top of the other ingredients. Sprinkle a little extra oregano on top of the cheese. Place the pizza back into the oven. Allow it to bake for another 10-12 minutes, or until the cheese is nice and melty.
The cook time will vary depending on your oven, so be sure to keep an eye on your pizza.
Once it’s ready to go, feel free to top the pizza with parmesan cheese. Then devour this amazing keto meal. And by devour, I mean stick to a few slices. This is especially important if you’re new to keto. This keto meal contains a good amount of fat. If you’re brand new to a keto diet and you eat the entire recipe, this may lead to a mad dash to the bathroom.
